Tea for two, that’s what we do, my daughter and I. A special treat once a year. Just the word itself, tea, evokes sweet memories and a warm feeling inside. We go to a whimsical Victorian style tea salon in a Georgian brownstone in Gramercy Park, New York City. They serve a delectable five course tea including scones, finger sandwiches, clotted cream, jam, and a nice array of teas to choose from. They even accommodate our gluten free needs. One thing which stood out our first time there was the mismatched vintage china they serve on. It’s eclectic – plates, cups, and saucers from all different collections. We loved it. What a great idea. They are all so pretty. My daughter decided then to start her own collection of mismatched antique plates to save for when she has her own place. Now at holidays and for her birthday I buy her a plate or cup for her collection.
Just she and me, tea and traditions too.
Until next time…
