My Friday.  Go to work.  Sit on hall duty.  Witness commotion.  Learn of threat of student coming back to shoot school.  No lockdown…why not?  Students terrified.  Parents picking up.  Tears flow.  Admin pretends business as usual.  Kids and some teachers rattled.  Student is caught.  Announcement finally made, and we are told we are safe.  No worries, they say.  But how does one feel safe when we never felt protected in the first place?  My poor students.  If I am still rattled, how are they?  I can’t get the thought of a student coming back with a gun out of my head.  Who would have thought it possible?  But it is, everywhere.

Until next time…
